Recapping recent Success on the Slopes and the Speed Skating Track

It's been a very successful season for a few of our Mountaineers that compete in winter sports.

Kolton Phillips delivered a strong performance in the first U12 Alberta Provincial Series race at the Norquay Caribou Cup, capturing Gold in Giant Slalom (GS). Competing against a strong field of over 100 young male athletes, Kolton showcased exceptional technique, speed, and confidence on the course, securing the top spot on the podium. Kolton also captured another Gold in GS and Silver in Slalom at the second Provincial Series race at the Nite Hawk Frozen Moose Race.

Our resident snowboarder (and Canada Snowboard Halfpipe National Team member), Felicity Geremia, always impresses us. Fresh off of a third place finish at the Aspen NorAm Cup, she had a first place finish at the NorAM Cup here in Calgary a few weeks ago. This weekend, she followed that up with an appearance in the augural season of The Snow League – an exciting new winter sports showcase that features the world's top winter sports athletes going head-to-head in multiple halfpipe events.

Wynn Kondracki has been unstoppable on the speed skating track once again this year. Back in mid-January, Wynn dominated the top U10 division (mixed genders) at the Alberta Long Track competition, winning every heat and race for a perfect 4000 points and gold. In early February, she set new personal best times in all four distances she skated at the RU Fast short track competition here in Calgary, and came first overall to earn another gold medal this year. This upcoming weekend at provincials, she won every race, and finished with the fastest time in every distance out of every U10 skater (boys and girls). Wynn set two new personal best times to boot and came home with two gold medals (1 provincial championship gold from the competition and 1 provincial circuit gold (for the whole year based on all competitions).

Way to go, Mountaineers!
