After an unbelievable run in the regular season, the U15 Prep team
finished in 1st place during the CSSHL regular season for the 1st time in the history of the U15 Prep program at Edge School.
The team had a historic run during the 2023-24 season, compiling 45 wins and only losing six times (two of which were via the shootout) the entire season. In CSSHL league play, Edge went 23-3-0-1-1, finishing with 69 points. The U15 Prep team scored the most goals in the division (192) and were fourth in goals against (82). The team's goal differential of 110 ranked 1st amongst all U15 Prep teams.
Most notable from the season was
the depth scoring that the team received throughout the lineup. In CSSHL league play, 10 of the 17 skaters averaged a point per game or more, and nine scored double digits in goals.
In the crease,
Carsten Leyerzapf (11 wins, 3.13 GAA, 0.901 SV%) and
Leif Oaten (11 wins, 2.90 GAA, 0.914 SV%) were steady for the squad.
Despite the success in CSSHL play, in tournament play, is where the team may have shone brightest. Edge dominated the three major U15 AAA tournaments they took part in, going undefeated (18-0) at the Red Deer Rebels Fall Classic, Rocky Mountain Classic and the John Reid Memorial Tournament.
Congratulations to coach Micki, his staff and all of our Mountaineers on the team for checking off this achievement. We look forward to seeing you work towards more team success in the
CSSHL playoffs in Penticton in early March – good luck!
